The Regional Diving Center for the diver’s training in Bijela intends lending to the archeologists, mind half a million euros worth equipment for researching Montenegrin bottom of the sea. The executive director of the Regional Diving Center, health Veselin Mijajlovic informed us about the planned cooperation with institutions in the countries of the Adriatic coast about the protection of Adriatic Sea cultural treasure.

The undersea archeological research is about to begin this July in cooperation with American Foundation from Key West. Their research ship is already in Albanian waters and very soon expected in ours. Bigova and Risan are the first two locations to be researched and it is planned that the team should work on taking the exhibits out of the sea in the presence of archeologists, conservators and the officials from the Ministry of culture. The Diving Center has valid information about possibility of finding remains of the sunken navigable object from various historic periods. The first step is retrieving existing undersea objects of great value that are in private possession of local public places such as taverns, bars and private collections and putting them back in museums and galleries.
This kind of research is prohibited by the law without archeologists taking part in it and the Regional Diving Center welcomes them to join the training as soon as possible.
